What Is Thanksgiving?

As an outsider to the American tradition of Thanksgiving, I had no idea what it is actually about.  All I know is that people usually eat turkey and pumpkins, so I did some research on this American festive holiday which will be taking place in America in three days time.

From Britannica Online Encyclopedia:
Thanksgiving Day, annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modelled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag Indians. The American holiday is particularly rich in legend and symbolism.
This still doesn't help me know what Thanksgiving is about, so I went on Thanks Much which stated:
For thousands of years, mankind has set aside a day each year to celebrate bountiful annual harvests. Before the establishment of formal religions, many ancient farmers believed that their crops contained spirits which caused the crops to grow and die. Many believed that these spirits would be released when the crops were harvested and they had to be destroyed or they would take revenge on the farmers who harvested them. Some of the harvest festivals celebrated the defeat of these spirits. Harvest festivals and Thanksgiving celebrations were held by the ancient Greeks, the Romans, the Hebrews, the Chinese, and the Egyptians.
If you are American or Canadian, what is Thanksgiving to you and what do you do to celebrate Thanksgiving?

Movie: Brokeback Mountain

Brokeback Mountain is the story of ranch hand Ennis del Mar (Heath Ledger) and rodeo cowboy Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal), two men who fall in love on the fictional Brokeback Mountain in Wyoming in 1963. The film documents their relationship over the next twenty years.

I have only seen this movie once and it is definitely a movie you must see.  Their relationship is so beautiful on how it had began.  If you haven't seen it, I would definitely recommend it!

masqueradesandcarousels mixtape, week 3

Download the mixtape here
This photograph is by spudballoo here but I had modified the colouring :)

This was definitely a difficult mixtape to think about.  Because the past week consisted of graduation, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and lots of sleeping.  So whenever I was listening to music, it was really what I had listed for my week 2 mixtape.

If you haven't seen the Say You Don't Want It music video (feat. Emma Watson), you can watch it here
The Chemistry song is the acoustic version which was for Vogue Fashion Night Out which can be watched here (that is why there is cheering at the very end of the song)

Scabior and Hermione Shipper

(source: unknown)
I am not a huge Scabmione shipper, as I will always be a Hermione/Ron shipper but Scabior is so damn hot in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.  On tumblr, Scabior is definitely one of the most talked about characters in the new Harry Potter film even though in the book, he was a minor character hardly mentioned.  Here are a few images created on tumblr by Scabmione fans:

As much to my pleasure, I have come across a Scabior wallpaper and it is rocking my desktop!

Any Scabmione fans?

Emma Watson

Before I begin, I am so sorry for the delay for this post.

Emma Watson is well known as her character as Hermione Jean Granger in the Harry Potter films.  As the films progressed over time, Emma slowly changed from a little girl with bushy brunette hair to a young adult with an amazing fashion style.
Emma at the Philosopher's Stone Premiere at 11 years old
Emma at the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Premiere at 20 years old
I could go on and on about how gorgeous she is and why she is one of my favourite people to look to for amazing fashion but I am pretty sure you don't need that explanation.
